Social Media Specialist

SOMS Digital is currently looking to expand our Social Media Marketing team. We're a full suite digital marketing agency currently servicing around 120 clients in SEO, PPC, social media marketing, content creation, strategy and/or app and web development. The Role:

With the growing demand for social media services among our current and prospective clients, we are looking for someone who knows their stories from their reels, understands that important life choices can wait on a ‘no-bones day’, and is fluent in metrics and data that matter. We’re looking for someone who can identify key trends and make them work for our clients in new and creative ways, with help from our strategic team.

The ideal candidate has a background in marketing and a natural passion for social media. We are looking for a specialist who is eager to help our clients grow their social media reach across multiple platforms with a strategic and creative approach.

The role is fully remote, and you can work from anywhere in the world, with our team primarily spread across South Africa and the UK. However, with most of our clients being based in South Africa, it is crucial that you are available for team meetings, briefings and debriefs during South African working hours. (UTC+02:00).

The Social Media Specialist is responsible for the execution and implementation of the social media strategy, from the initial concepts, ideas and strategies to the final execution and reporting of our efforts. Core to the role is taking briefs from our CRM team and working with our internal teams to plan and execute work on social media platforms effectively.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Content Planning
  • Creative Briefing
  • Develop an editorial calendar and ensure content team is on board
  • Collaborate with CRM and Digital teams
  • Execute paid ads for awareness and acquisition – this will include monitoring spend versus budgets
  • Upload and schedule social media posts according to content plan
  • Use content management systems to analyse website traffic and user’s engagement metrics
  • Content Performance Reports
  • Stay up to date with developments and generate new ideas to draw audience’s attention
  • Run community management – replying to enquiries and comments
  • Drive the management of communities through collection of assets through new likes and followers as well as the retention of the base

Requirements and skills/attributes required:

  • Minimum 2 - 3 years experience managing Social Media
  • Experience working on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn platforms (Tik Tok but not essential)
  • A positive attitude towards tight deadlines
  • Enjoys a fast-paced agency environment with rapidly changing priorities
  • Self-motivated, hard working and eager to learn attitude
  • Analytical, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills are a must
  • Ability to think creatively and out-of-the-box
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Exceptional writing, communication and confident presentation skills
  • Proficient in Skype/Google Meets/Teams, Outlook, and Google Office Suite
  • Knowledge of current digital trends and innovations
  • Reliable internet connection
